Participants from over 35 countries have already registered for the 9th International Working Conference on Stored Product Protection, which is held from 15th to 18th October in Campinas, SP. The main problems which affect the post-harvest of grain and fibers, such as storage, drying, pest and toxin control, will be the themes presented by the worlds leading specialists on the subject.
Germany, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Canada, Chile, China, Congo, Serbia, Turkey, USA, Israel, Great Britain and Zimbabwe are some of the countries which turn their attentions to Brazil, seat of the event which will lift one of the greatest obstacles in global agricultural development. “The theme quality in food production has been a decisive factor in making countries competitive in the global agribusiness. Even when destined only for the self-sufficiency of a nation, the consumer demands ever cleaner, good-looking, high nutritional value foodstuffs. All these demands come by through post-harvest”, clarifies Benami Bacaltchuk, researcher at Embrapa Wheat.
In addition to lectures, the experience of participants, with results from researches in technological innovations for post-harvest, gains space with the showcasing of 180 conference papers as poster and oral presentations. “The sessions will allow for the exchange of knowledge that has been developed across the five continents. Alternative methods to chemical pest control, techniques to measure the quality of grain during drying, new forms of warehouse sealing and concepts of workplace safety are some themes which should bring novelties to the conference”, confirms Irineu Lorini, researcher at Embrapa Wheat.
